Back in the early 50's my grandparents built their home in Lawrence.  My grandfather & his brother had one house between them & that was Suzanne Belkin's grandparents' home.  We were a few months apart & our moms became friends & would walk us in the carriages.  So, Suzanne was my very first friend!  She probably knew me before I was born!  We went to each other's b/day parties as children & we went to Hebew school together.  I moved to the Hewlett district for elementary school & then entered LJHS for 7th grade, where I would see Suzanne again in school.  My family & her grandparents remained on that block for decades.  I learned of her death the night it happened b/c a close friend was at the scene.  Her parents moved out of the area shortly thereafter. She was my first friend I had & the first one I "lost".

Suzanne and I were in Mr.Williams history class in high school.  She read the paper and knew what was going on in the world and she wrote beautifully.  I was so impressed by her.  It's sad that she's not here.
